Scope and Content
The Ethel Beem Collection consists of 15 photographic images of the campus of Pikeville College dated from the 1940's. Also included in the collection are two newspaper articles from 1983 which list biographical information about Ms. Beem.

Biographical Sketch
Ethel Love Beem was born March 4, 1885 in New Bedford, Pennsylvania. In 1943, she received a B.A. from Wooster College, and in 1943 became the head of the Business Department at Pikeville Junior College. In a career at Pikeville College which spanned 27 years, Beem also served as secretary to the college president and head of the campus post office. The 1959 Pikeville College Highlander was dedicated in her honor. Ethel Love Beem retired from Pikeville College in 1971. She died on July 4, 1983 at the age of 98.
