The William Walter Williams Collection consists of photos and miscellaneous papers related to Jesse James, the Potter family, and Williams' early history.
The Lillie Chaffin Collection consists of eight linear feet of material which documents the life and career of the eastern Kentucky teacher and writer. The collection contains a wide range of materials from Chaffin’s early career, including letters, manuscripts, and copies of publications, which date from 1950-1979.
The Eula Coleman Collection consists of the Kewanee Stone, a two-foot by three foot, 200-pound rock formation with serpentine indentions, and supporting manuscript collections. Included in the manuscript collections are clippings of articles and related news stories which document the history of the stone.
The Nancy Forsyth Collection contains material related to the University of Pikeville and the surrounding area. It has artifacts, wills, documents, and books.
The collections covers a variety of genealogical material. There are obituaries from newspapers, court record notes, marriage records, various pamphlets and books, and a collection of The East Kentuckian journal.
Cassettes and transcriptions of oral histories completed in Pikeville, Kentucky for the Main Street Oral History project. Other copies of the material reside with the Kentucky Historical Society.
The collection contains material related to the mining business of John C. C. Mayo. There are pictures of the Mayo family, a book carried by W. F. Hyatt, a portrait of John C. C. Mayo, and approximately 50 maps of the area.
The Old Regular Baptist Church Minutes are obituaries and meeting minutes of the church associations. These materials, consisting of three cubic feet of archival material, are arranged in chronological order, and the contents of each year’s folder may contain the minutes of several different associations.
The Pike County Historical Society Collection is composed of a wealth of materials on the history of Pike County. Included are ledgers, journals, historical scrapbooks, photographs, and records on a variety of a variety of historical and genealogical topics.
Boxes of material and scrapbooks containing the articles and research of Henry Scalf.
A noted eastern Kentucky historian and genealogist, Henry Scalf collected a great volume of individual family information through his research for the East Kentuckian and his numerous publications. The surname files cover the various names researched by Henry Scalf and were donated to Special Collections, Allara Library, as a portion of the Henry Scalf Collection, 93-03.
One zip disk containing manuscripts of Mountain County Cooking and Southern County Cooking, and articles written for the Appalachian News-Express, also three record boxes of material related to Appalachian education.
The Tackett Family Association Collection contains images, school record books, and journals relating to the Tackett/Tackitt family.
The Wesley Yonts Collections contains material related to the Old Regular Baptists. It has history books of different Baptists and their associations, most of which were locally printed or published on a very small scale. There are also associational minutes of many different associations, dating from the 1800s through 2014. The history books are housed in Special Collections and may be searched through the library catalog.
